Innovations of IS

Innovation is inextricably linked to efficiency. We are forever looking for quicker and more effective ways of doing things. The quest for efficiency gave birth to the car, the cellphone amongst many others.
Key Questions:
  • What then do innovations of IS have in store for us tomorrow?
  • Why is it so important for us to be aware of these innovations?
  • How will inovative information systems benefit you directly?
The Answers
Well for starters innovations of information systems' will allow individuals and organizations to be more productive. A good example of this would be IBM's cognitive computing. Soon enough your computer will be able to understand what you see, touch, taste, smell and hear just like us. The applications of such systems will be enhanced by tomorrows creative thinkers. This means that a firm understanding of innovative systems will be as essential  as knowing how to use Windows today. Technology moves fast and computers are becoming smarter. In due time a computer will be more of a companion rather than a tool. They already have and will continue to replace the trivial tasks of everyday life, giving us more time and effort to focus on more contructive activities.

Big Data - Big Opportunity

Secondly, it is important to realize that the benefits of adopting innovative information systems would not only be limited to the individuals/organizations that are adopting the system. Everyone who is involved in the use of the system would also have indirect benefits. for example, If an innovative traffic-light IS that is capable of evaluating and judging the flow of traffic was developed, then anyone who drives would benefit from the time saved on the road.
Finally, adopting new innovative IS processes and components early will give you an advantage over everyone else. This is why businesses in industries that make use of high end technologies are so invested in innovations of IS, as a lot of the time the competitive edge comes from special and unique processes that are the result of IS innovation. Actually, it could even be costly not to adopt IS innovations because in the instance that competitors adopt these processes, you will lose market share. In the case of the individual, you will lose out on opportunities to save money and most importantly time amongst other benefits.
